Socorro, Surigao del Norte — In vibrant colors, rich tradition, and strong community spirit, SOEMCO once again took part in the annual Harog “Benignit” Festival in celebration of the 68th Araw ng Socorro held on February 22, 2026.

The Harog “Benignit” Festival, one of the most anticipated highlights of Araw ng Socorro, showcases the municipality’s cultural heritage through the preparation and sharing of Benignit—a beloved Filipino delicacy made from coconut milk, root crops, bananas, and sago pearls. Traditionally, Harog (Benignit) is prepared as a comforting delicacy or snack served after the tiring Hinabangay which is not just means communal work, yet Bayanihan means helping each other during calamities, when there is a house to be transferred and building one rendering work for free, when death comes to a family, and in other instances where there is a need for collective help symbolizing care, gratitude, and the Bayanihan spirit among community members.

As a long-time partner of the local government and the community, SOEMCO actively participated in the festivities, demonstrating its continued commitment to supporting cultural preservation and local development. Through its presence and engagement, the cooperative reaffirmed its role not only as a financial institution but also as a community partner that celebrates and uplifts local traditions.
